The Archbishop received a request from the Holy Father to give input to the Holy See regarding the upcoming Synod. If you or your parishioners would like to read the document or respond to the questions in the questionnaire, they are welcome to do so. They should go to the Archdiocesan website and follow the link below. Please encourage them to read the document first before responding to the questions, and please realize that the questions are actually addressed to the Bishops and therefore are not always applicable. The responses we submit will be read by Mary Beth Celio and a summary will be produced by the Archdiocese.
But Archbishop Sartain has also stated that he plans to forward all material and responses that come to him directly to Rome. This is an unprecedented moment and opportunity and one which we should all attempt to address. However, we are asked to submit our responses no later than December 15, 2013 as the Diocesan deadline is December 31.
A letter from the Archbishop, response instructions and the synod document itself (all in English and Spanish) are now available on the Archdiocesan website at www.seattlearchdiocese.org. There is now a button on the homepage labeled “Synod Questionnaire” that when clicked will take the participate directly to the pages. If a pastor or pastoral coordinator wants to but something in the bulletin they should use the homepage address (www.seattlearchdiocese.org) .
